The Video Game Awards and IGN's awards are pretty much the "it" in video game awards shows.  That is until now. The guys over at KBMOD Podcast  bring you the ummmm, most legit game awards to date. That's right folks. Uncharted 3 will NOT be winning best graphics of the year on this show. Go see for yourself and check out these hilarious PC gamer awards at KBMOD .

I spec out piece by piece the gaming rig I would like to build within the next 3 months.  This computer will be a very capable computer able to play Battlefield 3 on high settings and virtually every other game on ultra.  It will also have a clear upgrade path and room for upgrades in the future.

Here's some quick commentary talking about leaving the Xbox camp and going back to PC.  This is my first video so leave suggestions on how to improve.  Of course rate, subscribe, and/or comment.  It helps in so many ways.  Now to the video...

If your into FPS or games in general I'm sure you've seen the numerous montages, movies, and just whatever made on YouTube with some FPS (usually Call of Duty) as the platform.  I know I've seen probably way to many.  So for me to be impressed with any one specific video means that one stands out above the rest. N0ctis from WASD Gamers posted a ridiculously awesome movie using Call of Duty 4.  The name of the video is HEREAFTER and is great.  Check it out below.

In the quest for building my own custom gaming rig I came across an online retailer named CyberPower.  Let me preface this post by saying that I've never personally dealt with CyberPower so all information in here is gathered from others online.  But I have done enough research to stand behind the conclusion I've come to. I'm going to be building my own midrange ($800 - $1000) gaming PC hopefully soon so I've been doing a lot of digging through online retailers such as Newegg , Tigerdirect , and Amazon .  With doing this came a lot of Googling also.  That's when I happened across a website called CyberPowerPC .  The prices on the website for pre-built gaming rigs (and other PCs) were very attractive.  Actually so much so that it seemed to good to be true.  So I started digging for information on this company. I've been "missing in action" for awhile now from this blog.  I produced an album for a local group which required me to remove Linux from my computer completely.  I also lost a little focus and interest in my tech side while working on the music.  Well I'm happy to say with the end of the year near and hopefully a gracious income tax coming hot on it's heels I'm back with my geek side fully reignited. What sparked this?  Well, mostly with the album I was working on being finished, I was able to look at some gaming again.  Any real tech geek can't look at games and hardware without getting that little excitement deep down in the core of their being. So now what?  I think I'm going to build a new budget to mid range level gaming PC.  Why?  That's simple.  After a few years of Xbox Live and Playstation Network I still feel like there's a lack of gaming nirvana.  Why do I think I can regain this on PC as opposed to the other platforms....

I was trying to install a game on my clean install of Ubuntu 10.10 this morning and kept running into an error which read "requires installation of untrusted packages".  I'm not 100% sure that this fixed the issue but it worked after I did it.  So if you're having the same error give this a  try.

When Ubuntu 10 came out they trumpeted to the high heavens this new idea called the "me-menu".  It's the  menu that by default is in the top right that contains chat IM, Twitter, Facebook, and Ubuntu One.  In theory this was an excellent idea but for me it never really worked out very well. The defaults icons that came in Ubuntu 10.10 are pretty nice.  But they may not be everyones cup of tea.  Or you just want to switch them up every once in awhile as to not get bored with your desktop.  No matter what the reason is I have come across what I think is the best icon set for Ubuntu to ever.

For all the Galaxy S owners in the United States which includes all 4 carriers and 4 different phones.  The phones are the Fascinate, Vibrant, Epic, and the Captivate.  If you own one of these phones or just keep up with the Android news in general then you may heard of the ever increasing impatience that has been growing about the, so far, broken promises for these phones.  This includes a real fix for the GPS and a Froyo 2.2 Android update.  With over 9 million units sold this topic was sure to blow up eventually considering the odds.  Well it may have finally.  A user by the name of MicBeast over at XDA claims to have filed a class action suit againt the giants T-Mobile and Samsung.  I haven't seen any hard evidence that this is true, but a compelling situation none the less.  XDA has seen a lot of traffic concerning this which displays the intensity of this topic.  Go check it out for yourself. Move Window Controls back to right in Ubuntu 10.04 : Ubuntu is a great operating system. I can't say enough good things about it. Especially the fact that it's a great alternative to Windows. But I think that advanced users and new ones alike will immediately say what the *enter curse word of choice* when they see the minimize, maximize, and close buttons for the windows in the left hand corner. I'm not sure why Canonical (Ubuntu developer) decided on such a radical change. I equate this to Ford switching the gas pedal to the left and the brake pedal to the right! The Android Community Means Nothing Apparently › AndroidGuys Ray Walters of Android Guys puts into words exactly how I feel about T-Mobile and Samsung not releasing an over the air update of Froyo on the Samsung Vibrant. As said in my comment of that post, I think the most important part of this article is that they dangled the update in front of us. In fact it was once a selling point in the beginning. That is immoral and unethical. And I'm sure Ray himself would say that was the catalyst to the whole situation.

PlayStation 3 (left) or the Xbox 360 (right) Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3? Like a lot of folks this year, money became really tight around the Christmas holidays.  I sold my Xbox 360 then my PlayStation 3 to ensure that I got through the holidays with arms and legs intact.  Now that the holidays are over and income tax refunds are right around the corner, I'm looking to replace one of them soon.  The dilemma is I have personally owned both systems and still can't decide which system I want to waste countless hours on.  Here are some of my personal thoughts.
