[Opinion] Budget Game: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

I'm a recent convert from the Xbox 360 to the PS3.  With that I have to rebuild my library of game titles which anyone who has shopped for the now generation games can tell you is no cheap matter.  I'm going to start reporting here budget and discounted PS3 titles that I've found that may not be the latest hype but are still great games to have and play.
I usually ask the opinion of the GameStop clerk on a title before I purchase and weigh that in to my decision.  So I asked the clerk about a few games then came to Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.  This from what I've heard was a must have title for any PS3 owner so I picked it up and took it to the counter to get the clerk's opinion expecting him to tell me what I already knew.  To my surprise he told me that game was not worth it, and that Uncharted 2 was the game I really wanted.  Maybe he was just simply trying to up-sell me but I don't know.  I went with my instinct and bought the game anyways.

I have to tell you that this game is simply amazing.  The soundtrack alone is better then 99% of the games even to this date.  The bright and vibrant color pallet used is a happy change from most of the dark and monotone games that are out.  The game has a witty charm about it also.  I don't really know how to explain it but it's just instantly likable.

If your looking for a dark thriller with adult themes and lots of blood and gore, this is the wrong game.  This game is a light hearted, gorgeous, classic story that I'm sure will keep you entertained.

My budget gamer score is 5/5.  For the price of this game used or even new at like a GameStop makes this a no lose buy.

  1. Guess you'll probably start with some of the former exclusives? You might want to try shopping on Amazon, I’ve had lots of deals there. For example, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is around 10-15 bucks brand new. Not sure how that compares to GameStop prices.

  2. Yes, I'm going to start with titles I could not or did not play on the Xbox 360. Thanks Drake for the Amazon tip. That's a bit cheaper then GameStop.
